Thomas Jefferson High School

Dallas Texas

Class of 1963

Reunion Information Center

Welcome to the TJ class of '63 reunion information center. It hardly seems that it is 50 years ago that two-a-days and band and drill team practice began - gearing up for the season opener against state ranked Highland Park. We were SENIORS - and  too full of optimism and excitement to think beyond graduation, much less into the next century.

What would happen. Who would we become. What did we think, hope, and dream.

We know many of the answers now and things turned out in many ways far differently - some better - some not.

Who knew that Becky Russell Sykes would go on to lead the Dallas Women's Foundation from inception to the highest standards of advocacy for the benefit of women in all fields of endeavor - that Jim Cole would go from sharing coffee with the Apollo 13 astronauts in the ward room of the Iwo Jima after recovery of that fateful mission to lead the Baylor College of Dentistry  as Dean for many years - and that they both would be inducted into the Thomas Jefferson High School Hall of Fame.

Who knew that Larry Bell would have a  career with the CIA in Vietnam and the Congo and produce an acclaimed book on the subject: "Dead Horses In The Sun",  or that Rusty Brutsche would create an industry within the entertainment business in sound and light service for touring concerts and have to decide whether his biggest thrill was receiving an Emmy for the Academy Awards lighting production or sitting in for John Paul Jones at bass during a Led Zeppelin sound check.

Like troops in those old war films that we often got wrapped up in, we came together, we struggled through training, some have fallen along the way, and most have soldiered on - and we share a point of view that what we experienced was unique - as all experiences are - and continues to be fun.

The main event at our 50th reunion will be the Dallas Doo Wops http://dallasdoowop.com/ on Saturday September 28, 2013. We will have the event at the Marriott Quorum, http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/dalqc-dallas-addison-marriott-quorum-by-the-galleria/ which will be the center of our activities and we will have room rate advantages and hospitality areas available over the weekend.  In addition we will have Friday Night Hospitality,  a coed golf tournament Saturday morning and a brunch at Park Cities Club on Sunday.  We will plan other gatherings for elementary school groups and other special interest groups such as band and choir as interest presents itself.  We expect the State Fair to open Sept 27th - it looks like SMU will be at TCU on the 28th -  How much more do you NEED?    Check the Invitation Form at:
